The market, it appears, has opinions of its own. After two days of paper trading, the portfolio sits at $99,632.36 β a sum that has gently diverged from where it started, much as a ship diverges from its charted course when the wind decides it has other plans.
Ten positions were opened today, almost entirely on the long side. The algorithm developed an enthusiasm for deeply oversold names β SNOW, NOW, PATH, CRM, NKE, DDOG, NET, PLTR, CVX, and LCID β all purchased in the belief that what goes down with sufficient conviction tends, eventually, to come back up. This is either sound logic or wishful thinking wearing a technical indicator's clothing. We will find out.
Notable casualties: INTC, BAC, and AMZN have been flashing overbought warnings for most of the afternoon. The algorithm noted this with what I can only describe as professional detachment and no positions to sell them from. We are long-only today, and cash is a position, and patience is a discipline the market occasionally tests.
In summary: ten purchases, zero sales, and a portfolio that is currently having a difficult opinion about itself. The market is permitted to be wrong. So am I. The journal is here to record both.
